Q: Steve, I m looking for a low noise in apt type
for my high speed carver to do gunstocks.
Really would like something for less than $250.
3 to 6 gal would work great. I hear the dp on gmc and sprayit are about 60db. A continous
stream of air like a small no tank isn't what I think I want but rather have a small tank of some sort. What do you think...? Bruce in Wichit ks.

A: Hello,
An air tool requires air flow to work.

Think of a windmill. A slight breeze lacks the power to turn the blades. However, a hurricane-force wind can generate substantial power.

Some air tools consume more air than others. Nailers and staplers require a puff of air. Sandblasters and sanders need massive gusts.

So, you basically want to know how fast the air comes out of the compressor. The air flow is measured in Cubic Feet Per Minute (CFM). The greater the flow -- the greater the power.

You simply select an air compressor that exceeds the CFM of your most powerful air tool. If the flow isn’t strong enough, the air tool simply won’t perform properly. Unfortunately small, quiet & inexpensive rarely go together.

One Year Wonder

Great product until it died after one year. Just quit. No whimper or groans, nothing. DEAD!!!

ACD RESPONDS: It could be something simple, like a blown fuse in the unit. Why don't you try giving the folks at Hitachi a call, toll free, at (866) 775-9429?

They will be happy to walk through a troubleshooting checklist with you; and if it hasn't been quite a year you may be eligible for warranty repair if it's needed.
