The combination of quality components sent this unit to the head of the class for our Best selection.

It's powered by a 6.5 HP Honda commercial-grade engine, so it you know it will start easily and run strong for a long time. The automatic idle control provides fuel economy and a long service life.

We like the multi-finned 11" flywheel and air-cooled aftercooler; they help the pump run cooler and last longer.

At a brawny 179 pounds it may take some muscle to get this unit up a... more

Read Your Manual Before You Post A Review
There is a relief valve above the regulator. You are directed in the manual to open it when cold starting.

If you open the relief valve and the tank valves and your carb isn't in need of cleaning, I guarantee your unit will start fine.

Engine Unreliable
This air compressor works great if you can get the engine running and up to speed. Engine takes up to 20 pulls to start and will not come up to speed to put a load on it for about 30 minutes. Once you get it running it works great.
Pros: Light Weight
Cons: Difficult To Use, Unreliable

Honda engines have a well-earned reputation for being easy to start; I'm sorry you are having problems with this one.

First of all, please make sure you are using fresh gasoline in the engine. If the gas has been sitting in a container for weeks it may not have enough volatile elements left to ignite well.

Second, the Honda GX engine has a good Factory Warranty through Honda. I checked the Honda Service Locator and the closest Warranty Repair places to your zip code aren't real close, but perhaps you could get the engine checked when you are in town for other errands. If you're heading towards Billings, it would be a good idea to call around and see who's got the quickest turn-around time.

I included the Miles City & Laurel locations in case those are easier for you:

Not What I Expected
I had a rolair for 6 years for roofing and loved it. Decided to get another one. The new one takes 5x longer to start and the automatic idle control broke after 1 month. It shouldn't take 30 minutes and 20 pulls to start a Honda engine

This compressor comes with a 1-year consumer warranty. I can't locate an order from you on our site, but if you purchased it less than a year ago, I'd suggest contacting Rolair at (920) 349-3281.
