ARB CKMTA12 Reviews & Ratings
The Air Locker 12-Volt Onboard High Output Twin Tankless Air Compressor from ARB secured heavy duty features.
It is designed and built by serious off-roaders in Australia to meet the needs of racers and RVers here in the States.
This unit can (with an additional kit, sold separately) run the famous 4x4 Air Locker differential locks, but it can do so much more- under uncivilized conditions.
Once it's wired into the electrical system of your vehicle, the water-sealed twin motors will inflate gnarly tires and power air tools up to 3 CFM while taking rough terrain, dirt and dust in stride.

This is about as close as you will get on a truck to the compressors you find at a service station. This unit is excellent in all regards.

Good product. Although the switches supplied with the compressor are a bit wide and do not fit the FJ Cruiser blank slots.

One Of My Better Investments

I use it for small painting jobs. I added two 4 gallon tanks and it has plenty of power to paint a bumper. So much more convenient using two deep cycling generators rather than a generator.
You do need to use heavy cables and keep the batteries charged. I have used it 5 times so far so cannot say a lot for its durability, but the Warranty looks good.

Bought the compressor to fill my 35's on my jeep. Converted it to portable with battery clips and put it in a carry bag...Fast refills and a lot cheaper than the portable model. Can also take it in all my vehicles.

ABR air compressor

For the price, it's a good compressor. I have 16 gallons worth of air storage, and it fills them fast. It's not too loud but you still know it's there.

ARB compressor on UpWind Kiteboarding boat
By Skot S.
key west, Florida
Purchased 08/01/2012 |
Review Posted 10/19/2012
I needed a durable compressor for use on my commercial kiteboarding boat in Key West, Florida.
I installed 2 aluminum air tanks (7 and 5 gallon) for storage capacity and run the compressor from two 12V marine batteries charged with a 160 watt solar panel. The compressor is used for filling kiteboarding kites and inflatable stand-up paddleboards.
Everything is mounted in a waterproof box with side vents and an auxiliary vent fan. I have been using the compressor for about 1 month and am very pleased with it. The internal pressure switch works great and allows for rapid recharge of the air tanks.
The unit does get very hot when running for more than 5 minutes, and because of this I am using all SS [stainless steel] high pressure hoses. My average run time is about 15 minutes, several times a day.
I have not used any other compressors so I have nothing to compare it to. So far I am very pleased with my ARB dual air compressor system.

Good Purchase
By Ron

Review Posted 06/23/2012
This appears to be a very well made compressor. All the wires and fuse blocks are high quality.
The only problem is the five foot power cables. Apparently an engineer at ARB thinks it is possible to mount this compressor within five feet of the battery, may be possible in Australia, but difficult with a Ford F350. I installed the compressor in the bed mounted tool box, and ran two 8 guage wires to the compressor (each side has its own power supply) . I used the provided inline fuses near the battery.
The included wiring loom is great if you have the air lockers, but all I wanted is a compressor. The unit has built in relays, which is very nice. I just ran my own wire to the switch used to trigger the relays, and did not use the included wire loom since there are no air lockers on my truck.
It does work fine with the extended power lines. I have not had time to complete the system with an underbed tank, but so far I do think I made a good purchase.
