My EC12 ROCKS
By Dino C

Review Posted 04/13/2023
This is what 2023 now, I've had my twin stack longer than any tool aside from my hatchet. Almost 30 years for a compressor and 51 for the hatchet. I run the compressor almost daily. I drain the tanks properly every day. I change the oil twice a year, I don't baby it but I never kick it either. It's been from California to Montana, Colorado to Washington state and back to Montana and I ain't never heard it moan once. Indoors or out Hot or friggin cold doesn't matter. I figure it must be the made in Italy sticker or its a Wednesday built compressor. Good luck finding a better tool built nowadays.

Design flaw

I have bought two EC-12's - one for me, and one for my son. My unit has failed, his has failed twice, each time in the same manner.

The compressor/motor itself seems quite rugged, but the regulator/on-off control switch fails regularly and is quite expensive to replace.

Repaired twice
By John

Review Posted 10/25/2011
I've had this compressor for less than a year, it has been repaired twice. The tool is poorly designed, requires a great deal of TLC to keep running, noise is excessive, and the weight also.

Hitachi tools generally are design poorly, starting with the plug position, the positioning of the switches on most of the tools, the complexity to access and change tools, and the balance is poorly thought out. I will never buy another Hitachi product including this air compressor.

Comparison
By Michael

Review Posted 01/08/2011
Have used a Hitachi compressor for several years and found it to be a reliable and rugged tool for the price.

The down side is that it is very loud, much more than similar style/size compressors, and it is hard to get started in cold climates without first heating up the "Block" with a lamp or heater. It's a real love/hate relationship. I like my Campbell Hausfeld oil-less compressor much more.
