Warranty ??? No One Will Call Me Back!!
By Robert M.

Review Posted 02/02/2021
Bought the compressor late last year, runs great but It burnt a contactor on a factory wire after about a month, I had an electrician get me back up and running and he said the factory wire was most likely lose from the factory and finally burnt. I have been calling to get a new contactor but nobody will call me back. Good compressor bad customer service. Also, was confused about the kit and the extra warranty, which was not explained well. What maintenance kit do I need to purchase?

Started compressor for the first time, let it run with valve open for a while, closed valve to build pressure, was nice and quiet, built pressure fast, was happy kicked out at 175, that’s when the problem started air kept draining out of the 1/4 inch line, could not get it to stop. Went to Quincy online looked for hours never did find the unloader valve, which is what I think I need. Please to not say COVID is effecting service, I did not get a discount because of COVID so I don’t want to hear that excuse.

So Far It's A Beast!

I replaced a 25 year old Sanborn Black MAx with this. So the fact that its whisper quiet compared to that one is no shock, the "bad" part is its actually so quiet we can not hear it run and sometimes leave it on when we leave. :) The old dog would run for 45 min to fill the tank this one about 7 min. My light bill will like that. I love the extended tank drain, laying on the ground to drain the old tank turned into it rusting up and being drained for probably the last 5 years. I have had it about a month and use it every day. I look forward to enjoying this thing in retirement 10 years from now. The price was a little higher but the quality I think is going to be well worth it.

I have only used it briefly so far. Just banking on a good reputation for now. Unit comes with Eaton brand control box but start/stop switch is not included, just a blank cover where it should be. Quincy tech told me to just wire it directly to my breaker and switch it on / off from that which is not proper, a breaker is overcurrent protection, not a switch so I had to buy a 40 amp disconnect to turn it on and off. Upon starting I had a leak at the water drain fitting on the bottom of the tank. Fitting was loose with no sealant, repaired that and things seem ok. Was told by Air compressor Direct that the lube kit upgrade that’s offered with other Quincy units to extend the factory warranty to 3 years was not an option for my unit but when it arrived there was a large tag pushing this upgrade hanging on the tank. It states that the upgrade must be on the same receipt as the compressor, guess I missed that opportunity.

Air Compressors Direct processed order quickly. This model is made to order and took a couple of days to build. Shipping was flawless and on time. However, if you live in a rural area like I do, be prepared to wait a few extra days before arrival. Most freight companies only deliver once per week to rural areas. Even with the extra days, the process was under the posted 2-10 business days.

The compressor is heavy and made of quality materials. It is a lot quieter than my old 30-gallon unit it replaced. This is definitely more compressor than I'll ever need or use. Very nice!!!!!

On another note, I was having issues registering my product on Quincy's website. One call to Air Compressors Direct and it was solved. They registered by phone for me. Customer Service gets an A+ for going the extra mile. Definitely, buy products from them.

Excellent Heavy Duty Compressor

We are a commercial weld and fabrication shop. We do lots of plasma cutting and other air tool intensive work and this compressor has been great! We have a very dirty environment and this compressor stands up to it. We upgraded from a 5hp 2 stage splash lubricated unit and the difference is dramatic. From the moment we uncrated this unit I could tell a clear difference in the overall quality and build.

We are kind of in the middle zone, not really needing a rotary style compressor but beyond what a typical entry-level 2 stage compressor could provide.

This Quincy fit the bill perfectly. I would highly recommend.

Product Quality Is Excellent

After a lot of research I decided upon this system as it included a magnetic starter, was pressure lubricated and ran on single phase 220, albeit 40 amp continuous with 80 amp breaker. Ordered it via direct phone call. Spoke to Steve. Extremely knowledgeable not only on compressors but on my specific model and factory.

Apparently this model is made to order. So they don't sit in storage and there is a acceptable delay to get the unit manufactured. Steve explained that the two individuals assigned get all the parts and assemble it as team. It adds accountability in my eyes as any issue with system can be tracked to specific individuals.

Order was smooth, Lift gate service was ordered and ABF was excellent to deal with, Crating for the unit base is fine. The crating that protects the upper unit is weak and dissatisfactory as it is not strong enough to use for leverage and seems only window dressing. In the end, the shippers took care and unit was in perfect shape.

Uploading the Extended warranty onto Quincy site following the standardized pdf on AIRCOMPRESSORDIRECT site went mostly smooth. It does denote to register tool within 10 days of purchase. I ordered on 2/10 and it arrived 3/2 (3/1 but I was unable to receive it that day) beyond the 10 day window. It also suggests to upload receipt image. That option did not auto-populate for me. However I proliferated the information and submitted. I followed up with an email to both Quincy and AIRCOMPRESSORDIRECT. I received a letter within hours from Quincy that my extended warranty was registered.

It will take a few days to get it all wired up but I am confident that the unit will run as expected. Excellent transaction with only a couple minor irritations. The product quality is EXCELLENT.

I checked your file, and I must respectfully disagree with you. The day you called us to let us know about the freight damage we asked you to send us a picture of the damaged pulley guard and the serial number of the unit so we could handle the paperwork on your behalf and get the replacement part sent to you.

8 days later we emailed you again, reminding you to please send us a picture of the damage and the serial number of your unit, saying "...we will happily assist you in getting this situation resolved." Your email response the next day was "We just bent the air intake and guard back the best we could. After talking to the freight company and them tell us we need to order and pay for the damage parts thin file a claim and maybe get paid. I just don't have time for that much grief."

We are still willing to help you, but the window for filing a Freight Damage claim is very short. If you would please send us a picture of the damage and the serial number of the unit right away we may still be able to get the part replaced for you, at no cost to you.

We want your experience to be a pleasant one, even in the rare cases where shipping damage occurs. I'm sorry you feel that we were "no help"- please be assured that we stand ready to assist you, if you would just send us the 2 pieces of information we need to get the job done.
