The Q13160VQ has a 50% duty cycle.....50% of what? What time period? Can it be run 30 seconds out of 1 minute? 30 minutes out of an hour?
Kevin
from Michigan
August 23, 2019
Answer
With a 50% duty cycle, going off of a 10-minute time frame, you are looking at 5 mins on and 5 mins off. However, this all depends on your air demands. Your CFM requirements will have an effect.

What is the decibel rating on the q13160vq?
Randy Jones
from Washington
October 10, 2016
Answer
I'm sorry- I went all through the manual, the spec sheet, and Quincy's site and I don't see where Quincy has posted a decibel rating for this unit.
There isn't an industry standard (so far) for dBA ratings- so readings could be taken 3 feet away or 10 feet away; in a noisy room or a quiet one. This lack of consistency is one of the reasons many manufacturers won't post a decibel rating.
However- my experience with Quincy piston units is that they are quieter than many others on the market, thanks to quality components and low RPM pumps.
You can see compressors that are built to be quieter than normal in our Quiet Air Compressor listing.

Is this Quincy model made in USA?
Heidi Garren
from Ohio
November 28, 2015
Answer
"Made in USA" is a legal term meaning not only is the item built in the US, but all of the parts must come from the US as well.
Quincy has a long history of US manufacture, but folks keep chasing the lowest cost which has priced Made in USA compressors out of the market.
This compressor is assembled in the US of globally sourced, high-quality components, thoroughly tested and backed by Quincy's Factory Warranty.

in the reviews there are recurring issues with the plastic tubes blowing off. Does Quincy have a fix for this? Was considering this compressor, but this seems to be a significant problem.
Lee
from Massachusetts
July 21, 2015
Answer
We checked with Quincy & was told that this design works just fine EXCEPT in cases where the customer is using this machine in excess of the 50/50 duty cycle. The machine is really not designed to run any more than 5 minutes out of 10, and this is true of ALL single stage recip machines. When the duty cycle exceeds the recommended duty cycle, the unloader tube can, in some instances, get hot to the point where it releases from the barbed fitting.

Steve- I need a new compressor for my home garage. I will be running a small glass bead cabinet, air shears, impact wrench, air drill, plasma cutter, air grinder, sander, etc.. Only running one tool at a time. I really don't want to spend $1500 on a 5HP dual stage. Will this Quincy 60 Gal, 3.5HP work for me?
Many thanks,
Lou
Lou Bogdos
from Texas
July 07, 2015
Answer
The model creates 12.3 CFM. Do you have the CFM requirements of your largest tool? I would look those up on your tools. You will then need 1.5X the required air to ensure your compressor can handle all your needs.
